Empoli are leading the race to sign Riccardo Pagano from Roma on a permanent transfer this summer.
According to Lorenzo Canicchio the Tuscan club have emerged as the frontrunners for the 2004-born midfielder, whose contract with the Giallorossi expires in one year. Empoli sporting director Fabio Artico is reportedly keen to complete the deal.
Roma could agree to the transfer while retaining a percentage of any future resale ensuring the club benefits from Pagano’s long-term development.
Padova and Südtirol are also monitoring the situation, but Empoli are currently considered to be in pole position to secure the midfielder’s signature.
