Summerville for West Ham

Roma Continue Talks for Crysencio Summerville as Decision Nears

Roma remain in active talks for Crysencio Summerville, but the deal is still waiting on the player’s final decision.

According to Il Messaggero, sporting director Tony D’Amico held a summit with Summerville’s representatives yesterday. The two sides have moved significantly closer after the winger’s initial salary request of €6 million net per season, and Roma are hoping to make a major statement in the transfer market within the next 72 hours.

However, Summerville is still waiting to see if offers arrive from the Premier League, with Aston Villa among the clubs monitoring his situation. If no suitable proposal comes, the Dutch winger could give Roma the green light, allowing D’Amico to open formal negotiations with West Ham.

West Ham are protected by a £45 million release clause, worth just under €53 million, which remains valid until the end of the month, according to Il Messaggero.

Corriere dello Sport adds that progress has been made in discussions, with Summerville now willing to lower his wage demands. Even so, the player has not yet given his definitive approval, while Roma also have no agreement with West Ham and are unwilling to trigger the release clause.

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Summerville is willing to go below his €6m salary request, but hasn’t given Roma his definitive answer. Roma will wait until Monday for a breakthrough. If an agreement still cannot be reached the Giallorossi are expected to shift their focus to alternative attacking targets.
