Roma remain confident that Lorenzo Pellegrini will stay at the club despite his contract not yet being renewed.
The captain is currently a free agent on paper attracting interest from other clubs, but his priority remains signing a new deal with the Giallorossi.
Negotiations are ongoing, although there is still a gap between the two parties.
According to reports, Pellegrini’s ongoing recovery from the injury that ended his 2025-26 season has also delayed the process as he is not yet available for Gian Piero Gasperini.
Speaking on Saturday, Gasperini made his stance clear, expressing his hope that Pellegrini would recover quickly and reach an agreement with the club.
Supporters have also voiced their backing.
During Roma’s first preseason friendly at Trigoria a banner directed at the Friedkin ownership read: “Making a mistake can happen… Repeating it is superficial! Let’s hold on to Lorenzo!”
With support from both the coach and the fans, Roma are expected to continue working toward a contract renewal that keeps their captain in the capital.
