Roma remain firmly in the race to sign Crysencio Summerville with the transfer saga expected to reach a conclusion soon. Multiple reports suggest the Giallorossi are still pushing hard to secure the West Ham winger despite strong competition from Al Hilal.
According to Mana Sport Roma, negotiations remain open as Al Hilal continue to press both West Ham and the player. However, the Dutch winger has yet to give the Saudi club his final approval, creating some frustration within Al Hilal. Roma, meanwhile, remain confident thanks to the positive relationship between the player’s representatives and the club.
Ricky Trevisani and Mana Sport Roma report that Roma attempted a late-night move by submitting a formal offer to West Ham before the agreed deadline. While the deal was not completed in time, one factor reportedly working in Roma’s favour is that Summerville’s partner is not convinced by a move to Saudi Arabia.
Matteo Moretto reports that Tony D’Amico and Gian Piero Gasperini held lengthy calls with Summerville, who once again expressed his desire to join Roma. The Giallorossi had already begun exchanging documents with West Ham for a deal worth around €50 million, but the transfer hit a procedural obstacle after the player failed to send the formal confirmation required before the verbal agreement expired. As a result, Summerville remains caught between Roma and Al Hilal.
La Gazzetta dello Sport, also reports that Summerville has not travelled for a medical with Al Hilal despite speculation suggesting otherwise. The 2001-born winger has taken more time because his family is reportedly unconvinced by the Saudi move. Gasperini personally contacted the player again on Monday evening, while the Friedkin ownership continued talks with West Ham as Roma fight to complete one of their priority signings.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, Crysencio Summerville is still considering his future with an update expected within the next few hours. Al Hilal believed their major financial proposal would receive an immediate positive response, but the winger has yet to give his approval.
A final decision is now expected soon, one way or the other.
Update from Alfredo Pedullà 9:30 AM EST
According to Alfredo Pedullà, Crysencio Summerville has still not given Al Hilal a final answer. The winger held detailed discussions overnight, including with potential Dutch teammates already at Roma, and has asked the Saudi club for more time.
Al Hilal had already planned his medical and want a response today, while Roma remain in the race as long as his doubts continue.
Pedullà adds that Roma activated the winger’s clause on Monday night for a total package of around €47 million with West Ham giving the deal the green light before Al Hilal entered with a far larger salary offer.
Roma believe they have done everything possible, leaving Summerville to choose between a huge financial package and Gasperini’s sporting project with Champions League football.
