Roma’s search for a new winger remains focused on Antonio Nusa, with several Italian outlets reporting fresh developments in the negotiations. While the Norwegian international appears to be the club’s preferred target, Roma are also keeping alternative options under consideration.
Matteo Moretto: Deal remains difficult 3:00 PM EST
According to Matteo Moretto, talks between Roma and RB Leipzig over Antonio Nusa have been confirmed, but the deal remains difficult.
There is still a significant gap between the two clubs’ valuations of the Norwegian winger, while Nusa has not yet given his approval to a move to the Giallorossi.
Gazzetta dello Sport: Roma Open Talks, Alternatives Identified
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma have opened discussions with Antonio Nusa’s entourage, with the player giving the green light to a move to the capital. The Giallorossi are reportedly prepared to double his current salary, offering around €4 million per season plus bonuses.
However, two major obstacles remain. RB Leipzig continue to value the winger very highly, while Roma are also assessing concerns over his fitness following the failed medical that prevented a move to Brentford in 2024.
The report adds that Roma are monitoring several alternatives in Germany should a deal for Nusa prove impossible. These include:
- Said El Mala (Köln), valued at around €50 million, with Borussia Dortmund having already offered €26 million plus €16 million in bonuses.
- Jean-Matteo Bahoya (Eintracht Frankfurt), valued between €25-30 million.
- Jamie Leweling (Stuttgart), who carries an estimated price tag of €40 million.
Corriere dello Sport: Wage Demands and Newcastle Competition
Corriere dello Sport, through Simone Valdarchi, also reports that Roma have begun talks with Nusa’s representatives.
While the Norwegian is interested in joining Roma, he is reportedly asking for €5 million per season. There is believed to be room for compromise on the salary, but the overall deal remains difficult due to RB Leipzig’s €60 million valuation and competition from Newcastle United.
Alfredo Pedullà: Roma Continuing Talks
According to Alfredo Pedullà, Roma continue to work quietly behind the scenes to complete the signing.
Negotiations are ongoing with both RB Leipzig and Nusa’s agent, and despite growing competition, the Giallorossi remain determined to push for the deal as they look to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack.
Roma’s Position
Although the financial demands remain significant, Antonio Nusa continues to be one of Roma’s top attacking priorities. The club are actively negotiating on multiple fronts while simultaneously keeping alternative targets ready should a deal for the Norwegian become unattainable.
