Former Roma CEO Mauro Baldissoni has defended Ivan Juric, insisting the Croatian coach has already proven his quality despite his difficult spell in the Italian capital.
Speaking to Sky Sport, Baldissoni, now CEO of Monza, praised the club’s new head coach as the Biancorossi prepare for their return to Serie A. Both Baldissoni and Juric have previous ties to Roma, with Baldissoni serving in several executive roles between 2011 and 2020 and Juric spending a brief period in charge of the Giallorossi in 2024.
“I think Juric deserved the opportunity at Roma and then at Atalanta because of the work he did at Genoa, Verona and Torino,” Baldissoni said. “When you achieve those kinds of results with those clubs, it shows you know how to coach. His ability to develop young players is exactly what a club with our objectives should be looking for.”
Baldissoni also outlined Monza’s vision for the new season, stressing the importance of building a squad with the right mentality.
“We’re building a team of good professionals who have already shown they can win Serie B. We need the right players in terms of motivation and attitude.”
The former Roma executive added that Juric has already made a positive impression since arriving at the club.
“We’ve changed the coach, the technical staff and the way we work. Ivan Juric’s first comment was about the complete willingness and commitment he received from the squad.”
