Roma remain active in their search for a new winger, but a move for Rafael Leão is currently considered difficult.
According to Matteo Moretto, the Giallorossi admire the AC Milan star, although the Portuguese international is not viewed as a realistic target at this stage. Roma are instead focusing their efforts on other attacking options.
Leão is expected to join Milan’s pre-season training camp with the Rossoneri valuing the 26-year-old at €50-60 million. Turkish clubs Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray have also shown interest, but neither side has submitted an official offer.
Meanwhile, Moretto reports that Said El Mala is not a concrete target for Roma despite being appreciated by the club.
The 2006-born Köln winger has been linked with the Giallorossi in recent weeks, but there are currently no active negotiations as Roma prioritise other names on their shortlist.
Moretto states that Roma are working hard to bring in reinforcements and their current targets are under the radar.
With the transfer window entering a crucial phase, Roma continue to evaluate several options as they look to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack before the start of the new Serie A season.
Patrick Berger: Said El Mala Rejects Roma Move Despite Giallorossi Interest
According to Patrick Berger of Sky Germany, Roma showed concrete interest in signing 19-year-old German talent Said El Mala, with FC Köln informed of the Giallorossi’s approach.
However, the player rejected the opportunity on Thursday evening as he does not see Italy as the right destination for his next career step.
Berger adds that Roma are now also interested in Rafael Leão, while El Mala’s preferred destination remains Borussia Dortmund, despite negotiations between Dortmund and Köln currently being at a standstill.
