Bologna to cover Artem Dovbyk’s full salary in loan deal

Bologna will take full responsibility for Artem Dovbyk’s salary as part of the agreement to sign the Roma striker in the deal that will bring Santiago Castro the other way.

According to Filippo Biafora, the deal will be completed on an initial loan with an option to buy. Bologna will therefore cover the Ukrainian’s entire wage for the duration of the move, providing Roma with immediate relief on their salary bill.

The agreement gives Bologna the opportunity to assess Dovbyk before deciding whether to make the transfer permanent. For Roma, the operation creates additional financial flexibility while opening space in the squad for a new attacking addition.

Dovbyk’s departure has become an important part of Roma’s summer plans as the club continues to reshape Gian Piero Gasperini’s forward line.

Update from Stefano Gentili:

According to Stefano Gentili, Artem Dovbyk has accepted a move to Bologna in an effort to relaunch his career after a difficult spell at Roma.

Bologna head coach Domenico Tedesco has reportedly presented the Ukrainian striker with a project that places him at the centre of the team’s plans.

As a further sign of confidence, the Rossoblù are prepared to cover Dovbyk’s full salary, while the agreement includes a €20 million purchase option.
