Roma agree €35m deal for Santiago Castro as Artem Dovbyk joins Bologna on loan

Roma have reached an agreement to sign Santiago Castro from Bologna in a deal worth €35 million plus bonuses.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement has been completed and Castro is set to become Gian Piero Gasperini’s first signing of the summer. Artem Dovbyk has also approved a move in the opposite direction and will join Bologna on loan.

The Ukrainian striker is expected to undergo his medical on Tuesday before completing the transfer.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Bologna will also receive a 10% sell-on clause as part of the Castro agreement. Dovbyk’s loan move is included alongside the financial package.

Roma’s attacking plans will not stop with Castro. According to Checco Casano of Rete Sport, the club still intends to sign two attacking wingers.

Lorenzo Pellegrini is viewed as a versatile option, but his contract situation will not change Gasperini’s plans for the forward line.

Update from Gianluca Di Marzio:

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Santiago Castro is expected to arrive in Rome this evening ahead of his move to the Giallorossi.

The Argentine striker will undergo his medical examinations on Tuesday before completing the transfer.
