Roma continued their preseason preparations with an eventful 3-3 draw against Cannes, despite taking a commanding three-goal advantage.
Paulo Dybala opened the scoring in the 34th minute before setting up Donyell Malen for Roma’s second shortly before halftime. The Argentine added another goal early in the second half to complete an impressive individual performance with two goals and an assist.
The match changed after Wesley was sent off in first-half stoppage time. Roma were forced to play the entire second half with 10 men and Cannes gradually fought their way back into the contest.
The French side scored their first goal in the 69th minute before reducing the deficit again with two minutes remaining. Cannes then completed the comeback through a stoppage-time penalty to secure a 3-3 draw.
Despite the disappointing collapse, Dybala’s sharp performance was a major positive for Gian Piero Gasperini. His link-up play with Malen offered an encouraging glimpse of Roma’s attacking potential ahead of the new season.
