Roma are changing their approach to transfer negotiations following the collapse of the Crysencio Summerville deal.
According to Filippo Biafora, the club now want to conduct their business with as much secrecy as possible. Roma are also asking the agents of their targets to maintain greater confidentiality during negotiations.
The swift agreement for Santiago Castro is viewed as an example of this new strategy, with the Giallorossi completing the deal in around two days.
Biafora reports that Iván Fresneda remains on Roma’s shortlist, but there is still a significant gap between the two clubs’ valuations.
Roma value the Sporting CP full-back at between €15 million and €20 million. The Portuguese club are demanding between €25 million and €30 million.
A deal could become possible if Sporting lower their asking price, but Roma have no intention of proceeding under the current conditions.
Fresneda is represented by Fali Ramadani, who already works with several players connected to Roma. His clients include Anass Salah-Eddine, while he also helped arrange Buba Sangaré’s move.
One possible scenario could therefore involve movement between players represented by the same agent as Roma reshape both flanks.
The club are looking to sign wide players on the right and left. Diego Moreira remains another admired target, although his name has lost momentum in recent days.
Biafora suggests Roma’s apparent withdrawal may be strategic rather than definitive. The Giallorossi continue to follow the Belgian closely and could return if the conditions of a deal become more favourable.
