Gianluca Mancini turned down the chance to leave Roma despite receiving more lucrative offers, according to his agent Giuseppe Riso.
Riso revealed that he had been prepared to arrange a transfer for the defender, but Mancini was determined to remain in the capital.
“I wanted to take Mancini away with even more important offers, but he wanted to stay at Roma at all costs,” Riso said. “Gasperini and D’Amico were better than me at convincing him. I would have sold him, but he rejected everything for Roma.”
The agent added that Mancini could have earned more elsewhere but prioritised his happiness and commitment to the Giallorossi.
“It is a gesture he made for Roma. I told him he was crazy, but I am happy because he is happy. He could have earned more, but he is happy.”
Riso also dismissed any suggestion that Bryan Cristante had considered leaving the club.
“Bryan Cristante is the captain and he never thought about leaving Roma,” he said. “He has made 360 appearances in Giallorosso. He will enter Roma’s history.”
The comments underline the loyalty of two of Roma’s most experienced players as Gian Piero Gasperini and sporting director Tony D’Amico continue shaping the squad for the new season.
