Mile Svilar has played down reports linking him with Juventus and insisted that his full focus remains on Roma.
The goalkeeper has been named Serie A’s best in his position for two consecutive seasons after establishing himself as one of the club’s most important players. His performances helped Roma narrowly miss out on Champions League qualification under Claudio Ranieri before securing a place in the competition with Gian Piero Gasperini.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Svilar said he was unaware of reports that Juventus had submitted an offer worth more than €40 million.
“Honestly, I know nothing about that story,” he said. “This summer I heard and read very little. I was not contacted, so I cannot tell you anything. For me, there is only Roma. I am focused on giving my best for this shirt, this club and these supporters.”
Svilar also discussed Roma’s preparations for the new season and stressed that the squad still needs time before reaching its best condition.
“We are in pre-season and working very hard,” he explained. “We need another month of work to be fully ready. Fortunately, we have that time before the competitive matches begin.”
The 26-year-old welcomed Roma’s return to the Champions League but warned that balancing European football with domestic commitments will make the season more demanding.
“It will be difficult even to confirm what we achieved last season because we will also be playing an important and demanding competition like the Champions League,” he said. “We must prepare well for both commitments.”
When asked which teams he feared most, Svilar gave a confident response.
“Honestly, I fear nobody. I cannot wait to play the real matches, regardless of the opponent.”
The goalkeeper also praised Gianluca Mancini and Evan Ndicka, describing their presence in front of him as a major source of security.
“They give you enormous confidence,” Svilar said. “For three or four years, Roma have conceded very few goals and had a very strong defence. We are extremely solid at the back. For a goalkeeper, it is essential to have players in front of you who know you and whom you know. They are the best I could ask for.”
Svilar was more cautious when discussing Lorenzo Pellegrini’s future. He confirmed that he had spoken with the midfielder but said the situation would ultimately be resolved between the player and the club.
