Robinio Vaz returned to full training with his Roma teammates on Thursday as the Giallorossi completed their final session at Trigoria before travelling to Wales.
The French striker has recovered from the injury that kept him sidelined and will join Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad for the second stage of pre-season. Niccolò Pisilli was the only player who continued to train separately.
Roma will be based in the United Kingdom from July 31 until August 8, exchanging the summer heat of Trigoria for the cooler conditions near Cardiff.
Vaz’s return gives him an important opportunity to impress Gasperini during the training camp. Roma invested approximately €25 million, including bonuses, to sign the 19-year-old from Marseille in January.
The club view Vaz as a long-term prospect and hope his value will increase as he gains experience and produces strong performances. His immediate position in the squad, however, remains uncertain.
Donyell Malen and new signing Santiago Castro are currently ahead of Vaz in Roma’s centre-forward hierarchy. The young striker must therefore use the coming weeks to compete for playing time and demonstrate his potential.
Roma will play friendlies against Cardiff City, Newport County and Brighton during their stay in Britain.
