AS Roma are in advanced talks to sign Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read after moving ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race for the Dutch defender.
According to Voetbal International journalist Joost Blaauwhof, Roma have submitted an offer worth more than €25 million for the 20-year-old.
The proposal exceeds Nottingham Forest’s latest bid and has strengthened Roma’s position in negotiations with Feyenoord.
Read has reportedly given his approval to the move and is ready to sign a five-year contract with the Giallorossi. Personal terms are therefore not expected to represent an obstacle.
A final agreement between the clubs is still required. Feyenoord have rejected several proposals for Read this summer and remain determined to secure the best possible fee for one of their most valuable young players.
Roma’s management are now preparing to travel to the Netherlands in an attempt to complete the negotiations directly with the Dutch club. The proposed meeting could provide the decisive breakthrough in the deal.
Read is Roma’s preferred target for the right flank. The Netherlands youth international offers pace, attacking quality and the versatility to operate as either a full-back or wing-back.
Although the transfer is not yet complete, Roma have made significant progress. With the player’s approval secured and an improved offer on the table, the Giallorossi are now pushing to reach a final agreement with Feyenoord.
