AS Roma have identified Feyenoord defender Givairo Read as their preferred option for the right flank, according to Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà.

The Giallorossi are working to reach an agreement with Feyenoord and are reportedly ready to complete the transfer once a deal is found with the Dutch club.

Read, 20, is considered one of the most promising young full-backs in the Eredivisie. The Netherlands youth international is an attack-minded right-back with pace, technical quality and the ability to contribute in advanced positions.

He made his senior Feyenoord debut against Roma in the Europa League in February 2024 and is currently under contract with the Rotterdam club until 2029.

Sporting CP defender Iván Fresneda remains on Roma’s shortlist but is now considered a less prominent option. Sevilla’s Juanlu Sánchez is reportedly the third candidate and is viewed as the most financially accessible of the three players.

Roma’s current priority, however, is Read. The club’s next step will be to find an agreement with Feyenoord before attempting to finalise personal terms and complete the signing.

Roma Submit €25m Offer for Givairo Read

Roma’s pursuit of Iván Fresneda is currently on hold due to the high cost of the operation. Meanwhile, the Giallorossi have submitted a €25 million offer to Feyenoord for Givairo Read, according to Matteo Moretto.

The Dutch club are seeking a higher fee for the 20-year-old right-back, meaning further negotiations will be required before a deal can be reached.
