Antonio Nusa for RB Leipzig

Roma continue talks for Antonio Nusa as transfer hint emerges in Leipzig friendly

Roma remain fully focused on strengthening Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad before the transfer window closes.

After completing deals for Santiago Castro and Konstantinos Koulierakis, sporting director Tony D’Amico is also making progress in negotiations for Givairo Read. The Feyenoord full-back is reportedly open to joining Roma, with discussions now centred on bonuses and the final details of his contract before the Dutch club gives the green light.

Attention then turns to the position Gasperini has prioritised all summer: a right-footed left winger.

According to reports from Italy, Antonio Nusa remains Roma’s preferred target despite the difficulties involved in negotiating with RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga club are under no pressure to sell following the lucrative departure of Yan Diomandé to Real Madrid, making a deal financially challenging.

However, a small clue emerged on Saturday morning. Nusa was left out of RB Leipzig’s starting lineup for their pre-season friendly against German third-tier side Verl, further fuelling speculation over his future.

Whether it proves to be a simple rotation decision or a transfer signal remains to be seen, but Roma have not given up. Talks between the clubs are continuing as D’Amico works to land Gasperini’s top attacking target before the end of the window.
