Roma continue to view Endrick as one of their top attacking targets, with the Brazilian remaining ahead of Franco Mastantuono on the club’s shortlist.
According to Il Tempo, Gian Piero Gasperini is convinced he can unlock Endrick’s full potential by developing him into a dynamic second striker. Although the 20-year-old has primarily played as a mobile centre-forward, the Roma coach believes his pace, movement and technical ability make him an ideal fit for the role.
The report also notes that Donyell Malen had the opposite conversation with Gasperini before joining Roma. The Dutch international reportedly asked to return to playing through the middle after spending several seasons on the wing.
Signing Endrick remains a difficult task. After leaving Brazil, the striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, where he impressed enough to earn a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil World Cup squad. Despite strong competition in Madrid, Real Madrid are still keen to retain control of one of their brightest young talents.
For that reason, Roma have no intention of pursuing a straight loan. Instead, the Giallorossi continue discussions with Real Madrid over a formula that could satisfy both clubs, potentially involving a loan with an option to buy and a buy-back clause, similar to the deal that took Nico Paz to Como.
Roma remain hopeful that a compromise can eventually be found, although any move is likely to depend on Real Madrid’s willingness to sanction Endrick’s departure later in the transfer window.
