Devyne Rensch: “Gasperini is demanding and full of energy”

Roma full-back Devyne Rensch has reflected on his start to life under Gian Piero Gasperini, admitting he is enjoying regular playing time and embracing the demands of the new coach.

Speaking to RomaNews.eu, the Dutch defender discussed his current role in the team following Zeki Çelik’s departure, as well as the impact Gasperini has had since taking charge.

“I’m playing regularly after Çelik’s departure,” Rensch said. “We have a coach with a lot of energy and a strong mentality. He’s a very demanding manager.”

Looking ahead after Champions League qualification

Rensch also looked back on one of his biggest moments in a Roma shirt—his decisive goal against Parma during last season’s run to Champions League qualification.

“Scoring against Parma was a great feeling. It was an important goal that helped the team, but that’s in the past now.”

The Dutch international insisted his focus is firmly on the new season as Roma prepare to compete in both Serie A and the Champions League.

“Signing for Roma was a special moment”

Rensch also opened up about the emotions he experienced when completing his move to the Giallorossi.

“It’s a feeling that’s difficult to explain. Those are emotions you don’t experience often, only during very special moments. Signing for Roma was a special moment for me.”

The defender is expected to play an increasingly important role under Gasperini as Roma continue building towards the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
