Roma were never seriously interested in Franco Mastantuono, despite recent speculation linking the Real Madrid youngster with a move to the capital.
According to Lorenzo Canicchio, the reports were driven more by media speculation than by genuine transfer negotiations. The journalist claims Gian Piero Gasperini was never convinced by Mastantuono’s profile and did not consider the Argentine talent a target for his squad.
Instead, the 18-year-old now appears to be closing in on a move to Fiorentina, with the Viola emerging as his most likely destination.
Roma, meanwhile, remain focused on other attacking targets as they continue working to strengthen Gasperini’s squad before the close of the summer transfer window.
