Ben Jacobs: Manchester United cool interest in Manu Koné

Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in Manu Koné, increasing the chances that the French midfielder remains at Roma.

According to Ben Jacobs, United’s head of recruitment Christopher Vivell is pushing for Koné, but manager Michael Carrick prefers a player with Premier League experience or a higher-profile option such as Aurélien Tchouaméni.

With the final decision expected to rest with Carrick, Roma are becoming increasingly confident of keeping Koné for the new season. That would be a major boost for Gian Piero Gasperini, who is keen to retain the midfielder as a key part of his squad.
