Roma’s summer transfer window has reached a crucial stage as Gian Piero Gasperini continues to wait for the reinforcements he believes are needed to complete his squad.
According to LaRoma24, Gasperini was scheduled to appear live on Sky Sport from Roma’s training camp in Wales on Thursday evening. However, the interview was cancelled because the coach remained in a lengthy transfer meeting with club officials.
The discussion reportedly focused on the club’s completed business, the remaining budget available for signings and, most importantly, the outgoing transfers required to finance further arrivals.
CEO John Galantic, who remains with the team in Wales, attended the meeting in person, while Ryan Friedkin joined remotely after returning from the UK. Sporting director Tony D’Amico also took part while continuing negotiations between Milan and Rome.
Roma are expected to complete the signing of Nahuel Molina next week following the arrivals of Santiago Castro and Konstantinos Koulierakis, but Gasperini is still waiting for the attacking reinforcements he considers essential.
The priority remains a right-footed left winger capable of fitting into the coach’s tactical system. While Antonio Nusa remains Roma’s dream target, RB Leipzig continue to demand around €60 million, a figure considered beyond the Giallorossi’s reach.
Malick Fofana remains the leading alternative, although concerns over the Lyon winger’s physical condition continue to influence Roma’s evaluation.
The report also states that Roma’s ownership has no intention of increasing the club’s wage structure, making ambitious moves for players such as Gabriel Martinelli or Rafael Leão extremely difficult despite recent enquiries.
As the Serie A opener draws closer, Gasperini is said to have left the meeting disappointed, with no immediate breakthrough on the attacking targets he has requested. With just over two weeks until the start of the new campaign, Roma are under increasing pressure to deliver the signings their head coach believes are necessary.

The report also suggests a major player sale remains a possibility, a scenario that could further complicate Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans.
The Roma coach is still waiting for the arrival of the right-footed left-sided attacker he has requested for more than a year, and the lack of progress on that front has reportedly increased his frustration.
La Gazzetta adds that there have been strong exchanges of opinion between Gasperini and sporting director Tony D’Amico, although the relationship between the two remains strong thanks to the trust built during their successful time together at Atalanta.
