Roma’s search for attacking reinforcements remained the dominant theme on Saturday with fresh developments involving Endrick, Antonio Nusa, Malick Fofana, and Jonathan Rowe as the Giallorossi continue working to complete Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.
Fresh Endrick talks as Real Madrid decision nears
The biggest update of the evening came from Alfredo Pedullà, who reported that Roma held new talks with Endrick’s representatives on Saturday.
Real Madrid are expected to decide within the next week whether the Brazilian striker will remain in Spain or leave on loan. If the European champions approve a temporary move, Roma intend to make their case despite strong competition from several clubs across Europe.
The update follows reports from Matteo Moretto, who revealed Roma have been quietly working behind the scenes on a potential loan for several weeks.
Roma still waiting on Antonio Nusa
Despite growing doubts, Antonio Nusa remains Roma’s preferred option for the left wing.
According to Corriere della Sera, the club has given itself a little more time to evaluate whether a deal is still possible. The issue is not Roma’s willingness to invest, but RB Leipzig’s refusal to negotiate after receiving around €140 million from Real Madrid for Yan Diomandé.
Fofana emerges as leading alternative
Should the Nusa pursuit collapse, Malick Fofana is increasingly becoming Roma’s main alternative.
Both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport report that Roma have intensified their interest in the Lyon winger, although the French club continue to value him at around €45 million. RB Leipzig are also monitoring the Belgian, potentially complicating the race.
Other winger options remain alive
Roma’s shortlist continues to evolve.
Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens is appreciated by the club and could become a loan opportunity due to Chelsea’s oversized squad.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Rowe has also emerged as a candidate after Roma sounded out the Bologna winger through his representatives, although the Rossoblù currently have no intention of selling.
At the same time, Flavio Tassotti reported that Roma have cooled their interest in Jan-Niklas Schade, while Igor Paixão remains on the shortlist but has slipped behind other targets.
Gasperini continues to wait
Following Roma’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton, Gian Piero Gasperini once again made it clear that he believes the squad still needs strengthening.
The coach admitted the team “still needs something” and reiterated that sporting director Tony D’Amico is working on “very young but very important players” as Roma look to complete their business before the Serie A opener.
With just over two weeks remaining before the new season begins, the coming days could prove decisive as Roma push to land the attacking reinforcement Gasperini has been requesting throughout the summer.
