Corriere dello Sport: Lorenzo Pellegrini rejected multiple offers to remain at Roma

Lorenzo Pellegrini turned down interest from several clubs before committing his future to Roma with a new contract.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Pellegrini would have preferred a two-year extension with an option for a third season. Instead, the midfielder accepted Roma’s proposal of a one-year extension with an additional year linked to appearances.

The decision came despite interest from elsewhere. Juventus reportedly explored the possibility of signing Pellegrini, while Besiktas and Trabzonspor made significant approaches. An unnamed Saudi club also entered the race shortly before the renewal was signed.

Pellegrini ultimately rejected each opportunity and chose to remain in the capital. The 30-year-old accepted a shorter contract than he initially wanted to continue his career with his boyhood club.

The midfielder will now focus on his recovery. Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed after the Brighton friendly that Pellegrini is expected to need at least another month before returning to action.
