Roma submit official offer for Rodrigo Mora

Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto: Roma submit first official bid for Rodrigo Mora

Roma have taken a concrete step in their pursuit of Rodrigo Mora, submitting their first official offer to Porto for the highly rated Portuguese talent.

According to Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Roma have presented a bid worth around €25 million for 100% of Mora’s registration rights.

The Giallorossi are seriously interested in the 19-year-old but consider an investment of around €50 million difficult. Roma are therefore trying to establish whether a deal can be completed at more favourable terms.

The opening €25 million proposal is unlikely to satisfy Porto, but it could serve as the starting point for negotiations between the two clubs.

Roma have now formally entered the race for Mora after days of discussions surrounding the structure and potential cost of the operation.

8:16 PM ET — Roma and Porto remain in talks for Rodrigo Mora

Negotiations between Roma and Porto for Rodrigo Mora are continuing. According to Lorenzo Canicchio, the Giallorossi are working to reduce the immediate financial outlay as much as possible.

The goal is to preserve enough room in the budget for another major investment, with Roma still planning to sign a left-sided attacker.

6:00 PM ET — Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto: Roma-Porto talks for Rodrigo Mora set to continue overnight

According to Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Roma and Porto are expected to remain in contact throughout the night as negotiations continue for Rodrigo Mora with Jorge Mendes also working to help bring the deal together.

Roma do not want to reach Porto’s €45-50 million valuation, so the clubs are discussing a lower guaranteed fee combined with a significant future sell-on percentage, potentially as high as 50%.

4:30 PM ET — Alfredo Pedullà: Rodrigo Mora opens door to Roma move as talks continue

According to Alfredo Pedullà a loan with an option to buy is currently not considered a viable formula for Rodrigo Mora despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Crucially, Mora has opened the door to joining Roma, with the breakthrough arriving last night when agent Jorge Mendes informed the Giallorossi that there was an opportunity to push for the deal.

Negotiations are now continuing without pause as Roma work to find a structure that provides Porto with the guarantees they are demanding.

3:30 PM ET — Gianluca Di Marzio: Roma and Porto explore multiple formulas for Rodrigo Mora

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma’s proposal of a €5 million loan plus €45 million option to buy has not yet convinced Porto who continue to value Rodrigo Mora at €50 million.

Roma have also explored an alternative worth €25 million plus a 50% future sell-on clause for Porto. The Portuguese club want greater guarantees and could accept an obligation to buy on favourable conditions a larger initial loan fee or a permanent transfer with a significant sell-on percentage.

Negotiations could intensify this evening and into the night with Jorge Mendes directly involved in trying to bridge the gap between the two clubs.

3:20 PM ET — Alfredo Pedullà: Roma-Porto negotiations for Rodrigo Mora ongoing

According to Alfredo Pedullà, negotiations between Roma and Porto for Rodrigo Mora are ongoing right now. Roma are aware of Porto’s €45 million asking price and are working towards signing the Portuguese talent on a permanent deal.

The Giallorossi are also prepared to include a significant percentage of any future resale in the agreement as they attempt to find a structure that can convince Porto to sell.
