Manu Koné will return to Trigoria today following his post-World Cup break with an important meeting with Gian Piero Gasperini expected to provide further clarity over his future at Roma.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have never officially placed Koné on the market and the French midfielder has not asked to leave. He remains attached to the club and the opportunity to play a leading role in the Champions League is another reason to stay.
Interest from elsewhere has persisted. Atlético Madrid reportedly had an offer of around €35 million rejected earlier this summer, while Manchester United have also shown interest. Paris Saint-Germain have not submitted a concrete proposal.
Roma continue to value Koné highly and would require an offer of more than €50 million before seriously considering a sale. Although his departure would generate a significant capital gain, it would also force sporting director Tony D’Amico to find a replacement at a time when Roma are concentrating their resources on strengthening the attack.
Koné will undergo routine checks before gradually returning to full training. He is then expected to speak with Gasperini and Roma’s management about the season ahead. For now, the 25-year-old remains a key part of Roma’s plans unless a major offer changes the situation.
