Borussia Dortmund have temporarily withdrawn from negotiations for Said El Mala after failing to reach an agreement with FC Köln.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany, Köln rejected Dortmund’s latest proposal and are demanding a guaranteed fee of €50 million for the highly rated winger.
Dortmund are reportedly frustrated with Köln’s position and have stepped away from negotiations for now. Köln remain firm that any agreement must contain a guaranteed figure beginning with €50 million and want the payment divided across only a limited number of instalments.
The deal is therefore currently off, although the situation could change before the transfer deadline.
El Mala has previously been linked with Roma as the Giallorossi evaluate several young attacking profiles. Dortmund stepping away could potentially change the market around the winger, but Köln’s €50 million valuation remains a significant obstacle for any interested club.
