AS: Roma had €30m Ivan Fresneda bid rejected before signing Nahuel Molina

The Giallorossi reportedly submitted two official offers for the Sporting CP defender before eventually turning to Nahuel Molina for the right flank.

Roma made a serious attempt to sign Iván Fresneda before ultimately completing a move for Nahuel Molina.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the Giallorossi submitted two official offers to Sporting CP for the Spanish right-back during the summer transfer window.

Roma’s final proposal reportedly reached €25 million plus €5 million in bonuses, but Sporting rejected the offer as they consider Fresneda an important part of their squad.

That position contrasts with the 2004-born defender’s playing time at the beginning of the season. Fresneda has featured for only 18 minutes across Sporting’s opening two league matches.

After failing to convince Sporting to sell, Roma changed direction in their search for a right-sided reinforcement and eventually signed Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid.

Fresneda’s future could still become a situation to watch before the transfer window closes, with the Spanish defender also attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League.
