Manu Kone is close to staying at Roma for another season as Manchester United make their choice

Fabrizio Romano: Manu Koné expected to remain at Roma

Manchester United have withdrawn from the race for the French midfielder after nearing a deal for Carlos Baleba.

The French midfielder is moving toward remaining at Roma after the Premier League club turned its attention to Carlos Baleba.

Manu Koné is increasingly likely to remain at Roma, with Manchester United no longer considered a potential destination for the midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United considered signing Koné during the summer transfer window but never submitted a written offer to the Giallorossi.

The Premier League club reportedly had internal doubts regarding the potential operation. While one section of the club supported a move for the French international, others were not convinced about pursuing the deal.

Manchester United have since strengthened their midfield by signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos and are now closing in on a deal for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

With United moving in another direction and no formal proposal arriving at Trigoria, Koné is now heading toward another season in the Italian capital.
