The latest on Manu Koné, Malick Fofana, Destiny Udogie, Alessio Cacciamani, Matias Soulé and Rafael Leão.
Roma continue to assess their final moves of the summer transfer window, with developments arriving across several potential incoming and outgoing operations.
The biggest news concerns Manu Koné, while Roma’s plans for Malick Fofana, Destiny Udogie and Alessio Cacciamani remain unresolved.
Manchester City identify Koné as a target
Manchester City have added Manu Koné to their list of midfield targets, according to Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail.
City are rebuilding their midfield following the departures of Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders and are also working on a deal for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Roma have reportedly valued Koné at approximately £51 million. The French international is admired for his dynamism and work without the ball after recording four goals in 63 appearances during his two seasons in Serie A.
Manchester United previously considered Koné and spoke with his representatives, but Fabrizio Romano reports that internal doubts prevented the club from submitting a written offer. United have since moved for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
Koné had appeared increasingly likely to remain in the Italian capital, but Manchester City’s interest could create a new situation before the transfer window closes.
Differing reports emerge over Fofana
Malick Fofana remains one of Roma’s preferred attacking targets, although reports differ regarding the current state of negotiations.
La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Tempo claim Roma have reached an agreement with Lyon worth approximately €35 million plus bonuses. Il Messaggero, however, reports that negotiations still need to be completed at around €30 million plus bonuses.
All three newspapers agree that Fofana has approved a move to Roma. Final authorization from the Friedkin family is reportedly still required before the operation can proceed.
Stefano Gentili subsequently reported that Roma have placed the pursuit on hold while prioritizing the arrival of a backup for Wesley.
Alfredo Pedullà also believes the situation could remain unresolved until the end of August, potentially after Lyon complete the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahçe.
Udogie on standby
Roma’s interest in Destiny Udogie is currently on standby.
Pedullà previously reported that the Tottenham player had requested more time before making a decision. Roma were prepared to wait, but not indefinitely, as they considered alternative options for the left flank.
There has been no significant progress, and the Giallorossi are currently reflecting on how to approach the final phase of the window.
Cacciamani remains one to watch
Alessio Cacciamani continues to be a player Roma are monitoring closely.
Pedullà reports that the situation remains open and that unexpected developments are still possible.
The operation had also been linked to Niccolò Fortini’s future at Fiorentina. Fortini has now agreed to join Torino on loan with an option to buy, according to Matteo Moretto, potentially creating movement elsewhere in the market.
Soulé not considered for sale
Matias Soulé is not currently considered to be leaving Roma, despite reported interest from Fiorentina.
According to Stefano Gentili, the Argentine attacker remains part of the club’s plans at this stage of the transfer window.
Roma’s position could change if a significant offer arrives, but the Giallorossi are not actively attempting to sell him.
Roma not pursuing Leão
Rafael Leão was reportedly offered to Roma again in recent days, but the club have not pursued the opportunity.
Alfredo Pedullà reports that Roma and Leão are not in discussions. The Portuguese attacker is seeking a salary worth between €10 million and €12 million per season, while Milan reportedly value him at approximately €60 million.
Although a package of €45 million plus €5 million in bonuses could potentially satisfy Milan, the overall operation is considered unfeasible for Roma following their investment in Rodrigo Mora.
The Giallorossi are expected to remain patient and evaluate other attacking opportunities during the closing stages of the transfer window.
