12:26 PM ET — Chelsea set firm conditions for Gittens talks
Chelsea currently consider Jamie Bynoe-Gittens part of their plans, according to Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano.
Roma would need to submit an offer for a permanent transfer or a loan containing a firmly guaranteed obligation to buy. Otherwise, Chelsea would be unwilling to open negotiations.
The Giallorossi want to determine whether Chelsea’s rejection is definitive or if negotiations can be reopened
Roma are planning another round of talks with Chelsea over Jamie Bynoe-Gittens after seeing their initial offer rejected.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Giallorossi have not abandoned their interest in the English winger and intend to make another attempt during the coming days.
Roma want to understand whether Chelsea’s refusal represents a definitive rejection with no room for negotiation or whether there is a possibility of continuing discussions.
Further developments are expected between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Chelsea rejected Roma’s first offer
Roma’s opening proposal reportedly consisted of a €3 million loan fee with an option to buy Bynoe-Gittens for €40 million.
The purchase clause would not have been mandatory, leaving Roma free to decide whether to make the transfer permanent.
Chelsea rejected the offer and have maintained that the 22-year-old is part of Xabi Alonso’s plans. Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs previously reported that the Premier League club were not prepared to sanction a loan departure.
Roma’s preferred formula remains a temporary transfer due to the financial restrictions affecting their final operations.
Roma want clarity on Chelsea’s position
The next discussions will allow Roma to establish whether Chelsea could reconsider their stance under different conditions.
The Giallorossi rate Bynoe-Gittens highly and believe his pace, dribbling and ability to operate from the left would provide the attacking qualities requested by Gian Piero Gasperini.
However, Roma will be unable to advance the operation if Chelsea continue to rule out a loan.
The club are simultaneously evaluating alternative targets, with Gasperini insisting that any additional attacker must provide genuine value and be strongly committed to joining Roma.
Tuesday and Wednesday could therefore prove decisive in determining whether Bynoe-Gittens remains a realistic option or is definitively removed from Roma’s list.
