Roma centre-back Daniele Ghilardi, who has attracted transfer interest from Bologna

Gazzetta dello Sport: Bologna interested in Roma defender Daniele Ghilardi

The arrival of Koulierakis and expected signing of Oosterwolde could lead Roma to sell a centre-back

Bologna are interested in signing Daniele Ghilardi as Roma consider reducing the size of Gian Piero Gasperini’s defensive department.

The arrival of Konstantinos Koulierakis and the expected signing of Jayden Oosterwolde from Fenerbahçe will provide Gasperini with several options across his back line.

However, the increased competition could also result in at least one defender leaving during the final days of the transfer window.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ghilardi and Jan Ziolkowski are among the most likely candidates to depart.

Bologna identify Ghilardi as an option

Bologna are searching for another central defender following the sale of Jhon Lucumí and have identified Ghilardi as a potential replacement.

The Rossoblu’s interest is described as genuine, although no formal negotiations have begun with Roma.

Ghilardi could prefer to remain in Serie A if he leaves the Giallorossi, making Bologna a possible destination should their interest develop into an offer.

The Italian defender was already behind several teammates in Gasperini’s hierarchy last season. The addition of Koulierakis and Oosterwolde could further reduce his opportunities.

Saudi interest in Ziolkowski

Ziolkowski is also attracting interest from abroad, with Al-Qadsiah reportedly holding talks over a potential transfer.

Roma are believed to value the Polish centre-back at approximately €20 million.

No agreement has been reported, but a significant offer from Saudi Arabia could provide Roma with funds to complete their remaining attacking business.

Both Ziolkowski and Ghilardi therefore face uncertain futures as the club evaluates the balance of Gasperini’s defensive options.
