Roma forward Robinio Vaz, who has earned Gian Piero Gasperini’s trust during preseason

Gazzetta dello Sport: Roma reject loan offers for Robinio Vaz

The young French attacker has earned Gasperini’s trust and is expected to remain with the first team

Robinio Vaz has convinced Gian Piero Gasperini to keep him at Roma after impressing during preseason.

The young French attacker began the summer with an uncertain future, and a temporary departure appeared possible to provide him with regular playing time.

However, Vaz’s performances and development throughout Roma’s preparations changed the club’s plans.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini now wants to work directly with the forward and integrate him into the first-team attacking rotation.

Roma reject Serie A approaches

Roma have reportedly rejected several loan requests from other Serie A clubs for Vaz.

The Giallorossi do not currently intend to send the youngster elsewhere to gain experience. Gasperini would prefer to keep him at Trigoria and assess how far he can progress through daily work with the senior squad.

The decision represents a significant promotion for a player who initially appeared likely to spend the season away from Roma.

Vaz’s quality and potential for further development persuaded Gasperini that he could contribute while continuing his education within the coach’s system.

Versatility could create opportunities

Vaz primarily operates as a centre-forward but can also play in a wider attacking role.

That versatility could help him earn more opportunities than initially anticipated in a department Gasperini prefers to keep well stocked with different tactical options.

The youngster will face significant competition for playing time, with Donyell Malen and Santiago Castro among Roma’s central attacking options. However, his ability to cover multiple roles could make him a useful rotation player during a demanding campaign.

After spending his first six months adapting to Serie A, Vaz now has the opportunity to establish himself as a permanent member of Roma’s senior squad.

His preseason work has already changed the club’s plans. The next step will be turning Gasperini’s confidence into competitive appearances and continued development.
