According to Nicolò Schira, Galatasaray remain interested in Lyon winger Malick Fofana, who continues to feature on Roma’s attacking shortlist.
The Turkish club currently have only one available foreign-player slot and must therefore choose between Fofana, Milan star Rafael Leão and Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirović.
A move would depend on Lyon accepting a loan formula, with Wednesday’s Champions League playoff potentially influencing the winger’s future.
Roma continue to monitor Malick Fofana as Gian Piero Gasperini waits for another attacking addition.
According to Il Messaggero the Belgian winger remains on Roma’s shortlist because of his technical qualities and potential for further development. Fofana reinforced his reputation by scoring for Lyon against Toulouse on Saturday.
The main obstacle is the proposed transfer formula. Roma are looking for a financially sustainable operation based on a loan, but Lyon have not shown any willingness to accept that structure.
The French club consider Fofana an important member of their squad and have previously demanded a significant permanent fee. Roma would therefore need Lyon to soften their position before negotiations could advance.
Champions League result could prove decisive
Lyon’s position could be influenced by Wednesday’s Champions League playoff return against Fenerbahçe. Qualification would strengthen the French club financially and could also encourage Fofana to remain for another season.
Sacha Tavolieri previously reported that the winger wants to continue at Lyon if the club reaches the Champions League. Roma are nevertheless expected to monitor the situation through the final days of the transfer window.
