7:04 PM ET — Aston Villa step up pursuit of Rafael Leão
Rafael Leão’s future could be resolved during the final days of the transfer window, with the Portuguese winger reportedly available to leave Milan.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Aston Villa have intensified their interest and Leão is said to be open to the move.
The clubs are now in contact over his valuation, with agent Jorge Mendes playing a central role after bringing the two sides together.
2:12 PM ET — Pete O’Rourke: Aston Villa considering move for Rafael Leão
According to Pete O’Rourke, Aston Villa are considering a move for Rafael Leão as they look to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
Milan are reportedly open to offers for the Portuguese winger, who has attracted interest from several clubs this summer, including Galatasaray, while Roma had previously evaluated his profile.
The Milan winger has reportedly rejected two proposals as Roma turn their attention toward other attacking targets.
Rafael Leão’s future remains uncertain heading into the final week of the summer transfer window, but a move to Roma now appears increasingly unlikely.
The Portuguese international was previously proposed to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side. However, the Giallorossi are believed to be evaluating other profiles as they consider whether to make another attacking addition.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Leão has given priority to joining Galatasaray. The Turkish club would be capable of satisfying the winger’s significant salary demands, although no agreement with Milan has been reported.
Tavolieri adds that Leão has rejected two other proposals because of his preference for a move to Turkey.
Milan have not yet received an offer strong enough to convince them to sell the 27-year-old. The winger was not included on the bench for the Rossoneri’s 2-1 victory over Torino, adding further uncertainty surrounding his situation.
Roma had been linked with a possible late move, but the financial demands of the operation always made a deal extremely complicated. Unless circumstances change significantly, the Giallorossi appear more likely to pursue a different attacking target before the window closes.
