David Ornstein: Manu Koné on Manchester City’s midfield shortlist

City are considering the Roma midfielder alongside Enzo Fernández and Adam Wharton.

Manchester City have included Manu Koné on their list of potential midfield signings, according to David Ornstein.

Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, Ornstein named the Roma midfielder alongside Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton as options being considered before the transfer deadline.

There is currently no formal offer or active negotiation between Manchester City and Roma.

Koné remains a fundamental part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans. The Roma coach recently said the French international had never been involved in transfer talks and stressed the importance of keeping him at the club.

City’s interest is therefore one to monitor, but Roma are not actively looking to sell Koné and would require a major offer to reconsider their position this late in the window.
