Emanuele Lulli made an impressive Serie A debut in Roma’s 4-0 win over Fiorentina.
With Devyne Rensch injured and Nahuel Molina not fully fit, Gian Piero Gasperini handed the 19-year-old a start on the right flank.
Lulli had been close to joining Avellino on loan, but Gasperini kept him after being impressed by his athleticism, speed, stamina and technical potential.
Lulli delivers assured debut
Lulli completed 94% of his passes and made 13 successful passes in the attacking third, matching Wesley and Paulo Dybala for the most in the match.
He also won every tackle he attempted and regularly advanced down the right.
Lulli combines attacking confidence with defensive intensity
Lulli recorded 56 touches, entered Fiorentina’s penalty area three times and created one chance, according to FotMob. He completed his only dribble attempt and was not dispossessed.
Defensively, he won seven of 10 duels, completed four tackles and made five defensive contributions and three recoveries as Roma kept a clean sheet.
He also registered one headed effort worth 0.12 expected goals. FotMob gave him a 7.78 rating.
After recording two goals and eight assists in the Primavera last season, Lulli’s debut suggests he could become a useful option for Gasperini during Roma’s Serie A and Champions League campaign.
