6:41 PM ET — Gianluca Di Marzio: Roma prepare new attempt for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Roma are ready to make another attempt to sign Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Chelsea.
Malick Fofana also remains a possible alternative with the Giallorossi potentially returning for the Belgian winger if Lyon are eliminated from the Champions League qualifying playoffs.
The Giallorossi will attempt to change Chelsea’s position before potentially returning to negotiations for Malick Fofana.
Roma are prepared to continue pushing for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens until at least Wednesday as they search for another attacking reinforcement.
According to Filippo Biafora on Mana Sport Roma, the Giallorossi will do everything possible to convince Chelsea to allow the English winger to leave.
Chelsea have already rejected Roma’s opening proposal and currently consider Gittens part of their plans. The Blues have also refused to approve a temporary departure, while Roma want to structure the operation as a loan.
Fofana could return to focus
If Chelsea’s position does not change, Roma could turn their attention back to Malick Fofana following Lyon’s Champions League playoff return leg against Fenerbahçe on Wednesday, August 26.
Should Lyon be eliminated, negotiations for the Belgian winger could become slightly easier. However, the financial conditions would remain demanding, with Lyon requesting €35 million plus €5 million in potential bonuses.
Roma have already reached an agreement with Fofana’s representatives, while the player is attracted by Gian Piero Gasperini’s project. The final decision over whether to commit to the investment would still rest with the Giallorossi.
The next 48 hours could therefore prove decisive as Roma make one final effort for Gittens before determining whether to reopen talks for Fofana or pursue another alternative.
