The Sporting CP and Cagliari midfielders are reportedly prepared to reject approaches from Ivory Coast and Switzerland ahead of a possible September call-up.
Issa Doumbia and Alessandro Romano have reportedly chosen to represent Italy at the senior international level.
According to an exclusive report from Nicolò Schira, Doumbia is prepared to reject approaches from the Ivorian Football Federation, while Romano intends to turn down Switzerland in favour of the Azzurri.
Italy coach Mancini is reportedly considering including both midfielders in his squad for the Nations League fixtures scheduled for September.
Doumbia currently plays for Sporting CP, while Romano transferred from Roma to Cagliari this summer.
Their reported decisions would provide Italy with two additional midfield options as Mancini prepares to announce his squad for the upcoming international window.
Neither player’s inclusion has been officially confirmed, but a senior call-up in September would represent an important step in their respective international careers.
