The Roma star provided three assists for Donyell Malen against Fiorentina, extending his remarkable creative run to four consecutive league matches.
Paulo Dybala began Roma’s 2026/27 Serie A campaign with a performance worthy of his status.
The Argentine created all three of Donyell Malen’s goals during Monday’s 4-0 victory over Fiorentina, before Niccolò Pisilli completed the scoring late in the match.
Dybala influenced almost every aspect of Roma’s attacking display. His movement, changes of direction and precise final passes repeatedly exposed Fiorentina’s defence, while his defensive work and leadership reflected his importance to Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
Dybala records seven assists across four Serie A games
The three assists also allowed Dybala to reach a personal Serie A milestone. For the first time in his career, the 32-year-old has provided at least one assist in four consecutive league appearances—even when considering matches across two different seasons.
His previous best was a three-game streak, achieved during his spells with Palermo, Juventus and Roma.
Dybala has now supplied seven assists across his last four Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi. He created goals against Parma and Lazio before recording two assists against Verona and three against Fiorentina.
Gasperini praised the forward after the match, highlighting the physical work completed during preseason.
“Dybala is a beast—so much for the ‘muscles made of silk’ that some people talked about,” Gasperini said. “He could even play extra time. He is a world-class player who completed an excellent preseason and is producing performances of real quality.”
The Roma coach believes Dybala’s game has evolved as he has matured.
“He is 32 and at the height of his maturity,” Gasperini added. “Perhaps he no longer has the speed or shooting power he possessed when he was younger, but he has improved other characteristics and qualities in every respect.”
After an emphatic opening victory, Dybala’s fitness and creativity could prove central to Roma’s ambitions throughout the season.
