The away section at the Via del Mare will be closed, while ticket sales have been prohibited for residents of the Lazio region.
Roma will be without their travelling support for the Serie A match against Lecce on Monday, August 31.
As reported by Mana Sport Roma, the Prefect of Lecce has ordered the closure of the away section at the Via del Mare and prohibited ticket sales to anyone residing in the Lazio region.
The decision means supporters travelling from Rome and other parts of Lazio will be unable to purchase tickets for the match. With the designated visitors’ section also closed, Roma will not have an official away allocation.
Restriction imposed for security reasons
The measure has been introduced on public-order and security grounds due to previous tensions between the Roma and Lecce fanbases.
Similar restrictions have been imposed for previous meetings between the clubs following concerns about potential incidents involving rival supporters.
The decision has now been confirmed ahead of Roma’s second Serie A fixture of the season. Gasperini’s side will visit the Via del Mare after opening the campaign with a 4-0 victory over Fiorentina.
Lecce-Roma is scheduled to kick off at 18:30 CEST on Monday, August 31.
