6:55 PM ET — Fabrizio Romano: Malick Fofana waiting for Roma signal

According to Fabrizio Romano, Malick Fofana is hoping to receive a signal from Roma as he wants to join the Giallorossi and work under Gian Piero Gasperini.

However, as of Wednesday evening, Roma had not made any new contact with either Lyon or the player’s representatives.

The situation will be monitored from Thursday to determine whether negotiations develop.

5:35 PM ET — Alfredo Pedullà: Roma continue monitoring Malick Fofana

According to Alfredo Pedullà, Malick Fofana’s situation remains one to monitor closely from Roma’s perspective over the coming days.

Before Lyon’s Champions League elimination against Fenerbahçe on Wednesday the French club valued the Belgian winger at approximately €30 million plus bonuses.

5:27 PM ET — Nicolò Schira: Roma schedule new direct talks with Lyon for Malick Fofana

According to Nicolò Schira, Roma will hold new direct discussions with Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday as they attempt to sign Malick Fofana.

The talks will follow Lyon’s elimination from the Champions League qualifying playoffs a result that could increase the French club’s need to generate transfer revenue.

Roma continue trying to convince Chelsea to release Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, while a move for Malick Fofana could become easier if Lyon are eliminated from Europe.

Roma’s search for a new attacking winger remains focused on Malick Fofana and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

According to Filippo Biafora and Mana Sport Roma, the Giallorossi are continuing their efforts to convince Chelsea to allow Bynoe-Gittens to leave during the final days of the transfer window.

Chelsea have so far rejected Roma’s proposed loan formula and maintained that the English winger remains part of their plans. Roma are nevertheless expected to make another attempt before deciding whether to move definitively toward an alternative.

Roma await Lyon result before Fofana decision

Fofana remains the other leading name under consideration at Trigoria.

Roma are waiting for the outcome of Lyon’s Champions League qualifying playoff against Fenerbahçe on Wednesday evening. If the French club are eliminated, the loss of European revenue could make it easier for the Giallorossi to negotiate a sustainable solution.

Biafora reports that Roma and Lyon had reached an agreement last week worth €35 million plus €3 million in bonuses. Roma also have an agreement with Fofana’s representatives over personal terms.

Biafora states Roma have been monitoring Malick Fofana for some time and attempted to secure an agreement for the summer several months ago, but his ankle injury brought the process to a halt.

However, the financial picture remains unclear. Fabrizio Romano subsequently reported that Lyon are requesting €37.5 million plus €2.5 million in bonuses, taking the total valuation to €40 million. He added that Roma had not indicated to Fofana’s agents on Tuesday evening that they were ready to proceed with the investment.

The reports suggest that the structure or conditions of a potential agreement may still require further negotiation.

Roma approach decisive winger choice

Gian Piero Gasperini continues to want a right-footed winger who can operate from the left and provide qualities currently missing from Roma’s attack.

Bynoe-Gittens remains dependent on Chelsea softening their position, while Fofana’s situation could shift following Lyon’s European result. Roma must ultimately decide whether either opportunity can be completed within the club’s financial restrictions.
