Roma are expected to reopen talks for Malick Fofana after Lyon’s Champions League elimination, while negotiations continue for Jayden Oosterwolde, Morato and Jan Ziolkowski.
Roma’s transfer plans are beginning to take shape as the summer window enters its final days. Malick Fofana and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens remain the principal attacking targets, while the club continues working through several defensive moves.
Roma prepare new Fofana talks
Roma are expected to hold new direct talks with Lyon for Fofana on Thursday, according to Nicolò Schira. The French club’s elimination from the Champions League qualifiers could make negotiations easier after Fenerbahçe secured a 2-1 victory in Lyon.
Fofana reportedly wants to join Roma and has already reached an agreement with the Giallorossi over personal terms. However, Fabrizio Romano reports that there had been no new contact with Lyon or the player’s representatives as of Wednesday evening.
Lyon’s valuation has been reported at approximately €30 million plus bonuses by Alfredo Pedullà, although other reports have placed the overall asking price closer to €40 million.
Roma continue Gittens pursuit
Roma are also preparing another attempt to convince Chelsea to release Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. The Premier League club have repeatedly rejected the possibility of a loan, but the Giallorossi have not abandoned the winger.
According to Filippo Biafora, Fofana and Gittens remain the two primary names under consideration as Roma search for the right-footed left winger requested by Gian Piero Gasperini.
Oosterwolde deal moving toward completion
Jayden Oosterwolde has passed the additional medical examinations requested by Roma, according to Stefano Gentili. The defender is expected to sign his contract in the coming days.
Roma reopened negotiations with Fenerbahçe after discovering that Oosterwolde’s recovery could take longer than initially communicated. The clubs are now working to revise the original agreement, with Roma seeking more favourable financial terms and reduced risk.
All parties remain confident that a solution will be found, although the final structure of the deal must still be agreed.
Morato talks placed on hold
Roma have approached Nottingham Forest for Morato as they prepare for Ziolkowski’s expected departure. The Brazilian has reportedly given his approval to the move, with an agreement in principle over a contract running until 2031.
However, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Nottingham Forest have not accepted Roma’s proposed loan with an option that could become mandatory. The English club currently prefer a permanent transfer, leaving negotiations on standby.
Ziolkowski closes in on Monza
Monza are nearing an agreement to sign Ziolkowski on an initial loan. Roma consider a temporary move the best solution for the Polish defender’s development and would prefer to retain control of his future.
The deal could contain an option to buy, although Roma may wait until another centre-back has been secured before authorizing Ziolkowski’s departure.
Kessié move depends on midfield departure
Gasperini is reportedly pushing for Roma to sign Franck Kessié, whose agent recently held extensive talks with the club in the capital.
The operation remains dependent on a midfielder leaving first. Roma currently have no concrete offers for Neil El Aynaoui, who is valued at approximately €30–35 million. Kessié’s salary demands—reported at €4.5–5 million net per season—also represent a considerable obstacle.
Juventus remain interested in the former Milan midfielder, but they must create room within their wage structure before advancing.
