The Il Romanista and Radio Romanista journalist discusses Gasperini’s project, Roma’s summer signings and the positions the club could still reinforce before the transfer deadline.
The Giallorossi have been a hot-topic in regards to the Serie A following their very active summer transfermarket, as well as their statement 4-0 opening win against Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico this past weekend.
Hence, the AS Roma Daily team had journalist Andrea Di Carlo of Il Romaista and Radio Romanista provide his insight in an exclusive interview.
Di Carlo was first asked to provide his opinion on what we can expect from former Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini at the helm of the Capital Club, following a successful first season in which he helped the Giallorossi achieve Champions League qualification for the first time since 2018.
“Monday’s match against Fiorentina offered a significant preview”, stated Di Carlo. “Roma is building on a solid foundation, thanks to a coach who has managed to instill a very strong tactical identity in the team in just one year. With the transfer window still open, it remains to be seen how the squad will be finalized, but Roma has the ambition to build a season in which they can contend at the top of the table.”
In addition. Di Carlo gave his insight in regards to the new additions within the Giallorossi back-line, both Atletico Madrid full-back Nahuel Molina and Konstantinos Koulierakis of Wolfsburg.
“Koulierakis is a very smart signing, physical, rock-solid defender who is nonetheless brave when playing the ball out from the back. Molina is a known quantity, a world-class wide player with experience in La Liga and with the Argentina national team; these are two additions that will provide a major boost.”
Furthermore, Di Carlo touched upon the acquisition of Bologna promising striker Santiago Castro and what he can implement within the squad throughout the 2026-27 campaign.
“Castro is a forward with great potential, he scores goals but also works hard and effectively for the team; in Malen, Roma has secured a center-forward who is a sure bet for performance.”
Moreover, Di Carlo provided his insight in regards to the the arrival of Portuguese starlet Rodrigo Mora of Porto and the significance of securing such a young and promising prospect.
“It was certainly a complex negotiation, with several moments where it was on the verge of falling through, but it ultimately reached a successful conclusion, driven by a shared desire to seal the deal. Rodrigo Mora will bring quality, technique, and vision to the role behind the striker; if he can quickly adapt to the physical demands of Serie A, we will see a truly exceptional talent develop in Rome.”
Finally, Di Carlo warned Giallorossi fans that the summer market is far from finished and that Roma are indeed seeking several new additions to the squad within the next several days prior to the closure of the summer window.
“Fans can expect Roma to round out the squad with a replacement for Ziolkowski (who is leaving), a wide midfielder, and a winger, two or three additions to give the team an extra gear.”
