The Roma CEO discussed the Champions League draw, Gian Piero Gasperini and the final days of the transfer window with Sky Sport.
Roma CEO John Galantic believes the Giallorossi have built a stronger squad and must establish themselves as regular Champions League participants.
Speaking to Sky Sport following the league-phase draw, Galantic reflected on Roma’s return to Europe’s leading competition and the significance of representing the club as a lifelong supporter.
“It is a great emotion to be here,” Galantic said. “Every team we will face is difficult. There will be some exciting challenges, and it will be wonderful for the supporters and the team.
“I have supported Roma since I was a child. For me, it is more than a job—it is a passion. I am honoured and fully committed.”
Galantic discusses Gasperini and Roma’s transfer window
Galantic described his opening weeks as Roma CEO as an intense period involving both sporting and commercial responsibilities.
“It has been a hectic month between the opening matches and the transfer market, especially having to divide my attention between the sporting and commercial sides,” he explained.
The CEO also addressed Gasperini’s demanding approach and Roma’s remaining transfer plans.
“Winners are always demanding,” Galantic said. “We remain attentive in the transfer market and will see whether any opportunities emerge.
“Gasperini is happy with the squad and the players who have arrived. We are stronger than we were last season.”
Roma will face Real Madrid, Sporting CP, Lille and Slovan Bratislava at the Stadio Olimpico. Their away fixtures will be against Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Fenerbahçe and AEK Athens.
Galantic concluded by emphasizing that Roma’s return to the Champions League must become a consistent feature rather than an isolated achievement.
“This moment is important, not only because of our start to the season, but also because of the Champions League,” he added. “We must thank the supporters. Roma must always be in the Champions League.”
