Roma continue working on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Malick Fofana, while Jayden Oosterwolde’s deal collapses, plus the futures of Robinio Vaz and Jan Ziolkowski.
Roma’s final transfer plans remain unresolved as the club attempts to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad before the window closes. The search for an attacking winger remains the priority, while several possible departures could influence the club’s remaining business.
Gittens remains Roma’s first choice
Roma continue to push for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens despite Chelsea’s refusal to approve a loan move.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Giallorossi held further talks with the winger’s agent on Thursday and will maintain their pursuit while there is still hope of changing Chelsea’s position. Gasperini is pushing for the 22-year-old, but the Premier League club remains the principal obstacle.
Malick Fofana is currently considered Roma’s main alternative. Pedullà reports that the club already have an agreement with the Belgian’s entourage and know that he wants to move to the capital.
Lyon value Fofana at approximately €30 million plus €5 million in bonuses. Roma could advance if their attempt for Gittens fails, although the investment would be considerably more expensive than the proposed Chelsea loan.
Santi Aouna has also reported renewed contact between Roma and Lyon, with the parties optimistic that an agreement could eventually be reached.
Vaz exit could create room for Fofana
Robinio Vaz is moving closer to Hull City after the clubs reached an agreement over a season-long loan.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the proposed deal includes a €2 million loan fee and a €30 million option to buy. Filippo Biafora confirms that Roma and Hull have reached an agreement, but the transfer still requires Vaz’s approval.
Angelo Mangiante reports that the forward’s departure could help Roma advance their pursuit of Fofana by creating additional room within the squad and the club’s transfer budget.
Oosterwolde deal collapses
Jayden Oosterwolde’s proposed move to Roma is now off after the club requested significant changes to its agreement with Fenerbahçe and the player.
Roma had initially agreed to pay a €1 million loan fee, with a €15 million purchase option and a further €2 million in bonuses. However, examinations reportedly indicated that the defender would need longer to recover than previously communicated.
Reports from Turkey and the Netherlands suggest Roma have withdrawn from the agreement after attempting to renegotiate its terms. Oosterwolde could require three to four weeks before returning to team training and between six and eight weeks before being ready for competitive action.
No official announcement has been made, but the deal is now widely considered to have collapsed.
Ziolkowski move delayed by Morato talks
Jan Ziolkowski’s proposed loan to Monza has been temporarily placed on hold while Roma search for a replacement.
The Giallorossi are negotiating with Nottingham Forest for Morato, but the clubs have yet to agree on the structure. Roma want a loan with an option to buy, while Forest are demanding an obligation under certain conditions.
Alfredo Pedullà reports that the disagreement has prevented Roma from approving Ziolkowski’s departure. Monza remain in position to sign the Polish defender if Roma can first secure another left-footed centre-back.
Pedullà has also dismissed reports linking Roma with Monaco defender Thilo Kehrer.
Kessié remains dependent on a midfield sale
Franck Kessié has been offered to Roma and is appreciated by Gasperini, but any move remains dependent on a departure from midfield.
Neil El Aynaoui has attracted interest, although Roma have not received a concrete offer matching their reported valuation of between €30 million and €35 million. Without a sale, the Giallorossi are unlikely to proceed for Kessié.
Juventus are currently attempting to accelerate negotiations for the former Milan midfielder, with Luciano Spalletti and sporting director Frederic Massara reportedly making direct contact.
Real Madrid monitor Manu Koné
Manu Koné has also attracted interest from Real Madrid, according to Diario AS.
The French international is reportedly among the Spanish club’s midfield options, although any move would depend on a significant departure from the Santiago Bernabéu. Roma have not received an offer, and Gasperini has repeatedly described Koné as an important part of his squad.
With the deadline approaching, Roma’s immediate focus remains the attacking flank. Gittens is still the preferred option, Fofana continues to wait and several outgoing deals could determine how much room the club has for one final major signing.
