Roma and Bologna inquire about Watford winger Rocco Vata

Roma and Bologna have made enquiries for Watford winger Rocco Vata, according to Ben Jacobs.

Both Serie A clubs have contacted Watford during the past few days as they explore possible additions to their attacking departments. No formal offer or advanced negotiations have yet been reported.

Vata has emerged as another option for Roma as sporting director Tony D’Amico works to provide Gian Piero Gasperini with an additional winger before the transfer window closes.

Vata joins Roma’s attacking shortlist

Roma have spent recent days working on deals for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Malick Fofana, but both operations remain difficult.

Chelsea have resisted the Giallorossi’s attempts to sign Gittens on loan, while Lyon’s valuation makes Fofana the more expensive option. Roma’s enquiry for Vata could therefore represent an alternative should the club be unable to complete either priority deal.

Bologna’s interest adds competition for the Watford attacker, although it remains unclear whether either Italian club will advance beyond an initial enquiry.
