Roma are finalizing Leonardo Balerdi’s arrival while uncertainty remains over Malick Fofana, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and several potential departures.
Roma’s final transfer plans began to take shape on Friday, with Leonardo Balerdi moving closer to the capital and Jan Ziolkowski preparing to join Monza.
The search for an attacking winger remains unresolved, while Crystal Palace have made an official approach for Neil El Aynaoui.
Balerdi prepares for Roma move
Roma are closing in on the signing of Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the proposed agreement is a paid loan with an option to buy that will become mandatory if certain conditions are met. Roma will cover Balerdi’s salary and pay Marseille a loan fee.
The Argentina international has agreed personal terms and is aiming to travel to Rome during the weekend for his medical examinations and contract signing.
Nicolò Schira reports that Roma are already making travel arrangements, with the final discussions focused on the conditions that would activate the purchase obligation.
Ziolkowski set for Monza
Balerdi’s expected arrival has allowed Roma to approve Jan Ziolkowski’s departure.
Monza have reached a verbal agreement to sign Ziolkowski on an initial loan containing an €18 million purchase option.
Roma had delayed the move while searching for a replacement, but Balerdi’s progress has now provided the necessary opening.
Fofana continues waiting for Roma
Malick Fofana continues to hope Roma will advance for him, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, the Giallorossi had not sent a signal to the player or his representatives as of Friday night.
Lyon contacted Roma and encouraged them to enter serious negotiations because of their need to complete a sale. Roma remain on standby because the operation is currently considered too expensive under the club’s financial restrictions.
Meanwhile, Hull City have submitted a €35 million verbal offer for Fofana and held a video call with the Belgian to present their project.
Fofana has an agreement over contractual terms with Roma, but he also has alternative opportunities in the Premier League if the Giallorossi do not act.
Chelsea continue blocking Gittens move
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens remains Gian Piero Gasperini’s preferred option for the left wing.
Roma have continued attempting to convince Chelsea to approve a loan, but the London club have not softened their position. Sky Sport reports that Gasperini is pushing the ownership to complete the signing, although Roma can currently operate only through a loan formula.
That restriction also explains why the Fofana operation has become increasingly difficult.
Crystal Palace submit El Aynaoui offer
Crystal Palace have submitted their first official offer for Neil El Aynaoui.
The proposal is an initial loan with an option to buy that could become mandatory under certain conditions. Roma, however, want a permanent transfer or a guaranteed obligation worth between €30 million and €35 million.
El Aynaoui is also attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen, while the midfielder is open to leaving in search of regular playing time.
Roma maintain Kessié contact
Roma remain interested in Franck Kessié and maintained contact over a possible transfer on Friday.
Juventus are also negotiating with the midfielder but have not reached an agreement. Kessié has yet to make a final decision.
Any Roma move would likely depend on El Aynaoui leaving and creating the necessary financial and squad space.
Vaz misses training amid transfer talks
Robinio Vaz did not participate in Roma training as a precaution because of his ongoing transfer situation.
Hull City have an agreement with Roma over a €2 million loan containing a €30 million purchase option. Vaz, however, is taking time to evaluate interest from Lorient, PSV Eindhoven and Bundesliga clubs before choosing his destination.
Oosterwolde deal could be revived
Roma and Fenerbahçe have reportedly found revised terms for Jayden Oosterwolde after the original agreement collapsed.
According to Voetbal International, Oosterwolde must now decide whether to accept Roma’s new proposal. The defender has completed his medical examinations, and the club have a clear understanding of the recovery period he requires.
