The Brazilian defender has reunited with Nuno Espírito Santo in a deal containing an option to buy.
Morato has completed a loan move from Nottingham Forest to West Ham United.
The Championship club have secured an option to sign the 25-year-old permanently as part of the agreement. The move reunites Morato with Nuno Espírito Santo, who previously coached him at Forest.
Morato contributed to Forest’s seventh-place Premier League finish in 2024-25. He started only six league matches but made another 20 appearances from the bench and was regularly introduced to help protect results.
The former Benfica defender joined Forest for £12million in August 2024. He made 66 appearances across two seasons and was named in last season’s Europa League team of the tournament after Forest reached the semi-finals.
Forest have recently allowed several defenders to leave temporarily, with Tyler Bindon joining Charlton Athletic and Zach Abbott moving to Southampton.
Morato had also emerged as a defensive target for AS Roma during the summer. However, the Giallorossi were unable to reach an agreement with Forest over the structure of a potential deal.
