However, according to Santi Aouna, Gian Piero Gasperini vetoed the proposed operation and opposed the French midfielder’s departure for London.
With the transfer window now closed, Koné has remained at Roma as a central part of Gasperini’s plans.

There is no doubt over Manu Koné’s future: the French midfielder will remain at Roma as a cornerstone of the club’s project, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Chelsea’s overnight calls were immediately rejected by the Giallorossi, with no official offer submitted and no advanced negotiations taking place.

Despite the denials surrounding a possible transfer, Chelsea continued making attempts to sign Manu Koné during the final hours of the window, according to Lorenzo Canicchio.
Roma maintained their refusal to sell the French midfielder, who remains a fundamental part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans.
10:14 AM ET: Questions Emerge Over Koné’s Representation
According to Romain Molina, Manu Koné’s current agent, Jonathan Kebe, could face difficulty retaining the midfielder as a client if Koné does not leave Roma this summer.
Molina adds that members of the player’s family have already begun speaking with other agents about his representation.
The Giallorossi have firmly rejected Chelsea’s late move for the French midfielder, who remains untouchable for Gian Piero Gasperini.
Roma have rejected Chelsea’s attempt to sign Manu Koné, making it clear that the midfielder will not be allowed to leave during the closing stages of the transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea contacted Roma overnight to discuss Koné. The Giallorossi responded by firmly reiterating that they had no intention of selling him.
Gasperini Blocks Koné’s Departure
Koné has always been considered untouchable by Gasperini, according to Attilio Malena. Direct contact reportedly took place between Chelsea and Roma’s ownership, which assessed the situation before the club’s technical department intervened to stop a potential transfer from progressing.
Angelo Mangiante reports that Chelsea submitted an offer on Monday, but it was rejected by both Roma and Gasperini. Koné is therefore expected to remain in the Italian capital.
The Roma coach had already ruled out the midfielder’s departure following the 4-0 victory over Lecce, describing the transfer speculation as a media-driven story and stressing that the club had no intention of completing a late sale.
Chelsea Continue to Monitor Koné
Despite Roma’s firm refusal, Ben Jacobs reports that Chelsea remain active on the Koné front. The Premier League club are simultaneously holding discussions with Monaco over Lamine Camara.
Matteo Moretto has reiterated that Koné is an important player for Gasperini and that Roma want to retain him.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Roma’s position appears definitive: Koné is not for sale and will remain a central part of Gasperini’s project.
